In Southeast Asia’s hot, humid climate, road crews need reliable equipment to keep asphalt mixers supplied with high-quality binder. A bitumen melting machine (drum melter or “asphalt decanting plant”) heats solid asphalt so that liquid bitumen can be pumped out for paving. Precise heating is critical – without it, pavement can crack or erode quickly. Feiteng’s thermal-oil melting systems meet this challenge by delivering uniform, automated bitumen heating even under tropical conditions. These systems use oil-coil circulation and PLC controls to fully melt drums or bags of bitumen, minimizing waste and labor while ensuring consistent binder quality.
Thermal-Oil Bitumen Melting Technology
Feiteng’s melters rely on a thermal oil circulation loop to heat asphalt indirectly. High-temperature heat-transfer oil flows through helical coils around each drum, gently liquefying the bitumen without burning it. This indirect heating prevents scorching and allows very even temperature control. Feiteng’s DLT series drum decanters are burner-free and use an external thermal-oil boiler for heating. The result is fast, energy-efficient melting: a single unit can process up to 10–15 tons per hour while keeping residue below 0.3%. (For sites without a boiler, Feiteng also offers self-contained models with built-in heaters.) Exhaust flue-gas can be recycled to preheat incoming oil or air, further boosting efficiency.

Automated Asphalt Drum Decanting Systems
Modern job sites demand automatic operation. Feiteng’s equipment uses hydraulic hoists, swing-in gates and PLC-controlled tipping to load drums (or bulky bitumen bags) with minimal manual effort. Inside the insulated melting chamber, heat coils and forced-air jets liquefy the asphalt, then automatic filters remove any slag or impurities as the hot binder drains downward.
Key features include:
-
Fast, Uniform Melting: Up to 10–15 t/h output per unit.
-
Virtually Zero Waste: Drum residue often below 0.3%.
-
Automatic Slag Removal: Clean, filtered bitumen flow.
-
Enclosed, Eco-Friendly Design: Insulated, sealed heating chamber.
-
Labor-Saving Automation: PLC-controlled loading/unloading.
-
Container-Ready Frame: Ideal for port or island logistics.
These automated asphalt decanting systems ensure steady, clean, high-temperature bitumen supply for any mixing plant, without the delays of traditional manual methods.

Containerized Melters for Island & Port Logistics
Feiteng’s melters are designed for Southeast Asia’s complex transport needs. Units are containerized, meaning they fit standard 20- or 40-foot shipping containers and can be deployed in island, coastal or remote projects with ease. On site, they only require fuel, power, and bitumen drums to start. High-grade insulation reduces fuel use; closed combustion and heated drip trays ensure clean operation in muddy or rainy conditions.
Feiteng also manufactures bag bitumen melters for jumbo bags, using similar thermal oil principles and automation. Whether using drums or bags, Feiteng offers flexible, portable systems for continuous melting and pumping in tropical job sites.
Performance Under Tropical Conditions
Southeast Asia’s extreme heat and humidity accelerate bitumen softening and breakdown, so polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) is increasingly used. Feiteng melters are PMB-compatible and maintain 10–15 t/h output even in humid weather. Their sealed chambers re-liquefy bitumen quickly after rain, keeping paving crews on schedule. Reduced smoke and emissions also help projects comply with tightening environmental standards.
Examples from highway, port, and city road upgrades show how Feiteng systems help contractors deliver cleaner, safer, and more efficient projects — even across multi-island regions or in rural job sites.
