For decades, the standard method for heating and storing liquid asphalt has been the Thermal Oil Boiler system. It is powerful and efficient for massive asphalt batching plants.
However, what if your project is in a strict urban emission control zone? What if your site footprint is too small to build a separate boiler room? Or what if you simply want a “plug-and-play” storage solution without the maintenance headaches of diesel burners and thermal oil piping?
The answer is the Electric Heating Bitumen Tank.
At FEITENG, our engineering team has perfected the DZL Series Electric Heating Tanks to provide a clean, highly automated, and boiler-free asphalt storage solution. Here is why modern contractors are making the switch.
1. Zero Emissions and Environmental Compliance
The most immediate advantage of electric heating is the absence of exhaust.
Diesel or gas-fired thermal oil boilers require flues and emit combustion gases. If you are paving city streets or working near residential areas, getting environmental permits for a burner can be a nightmare.
Because the DZL Series relies entirely on electrical power, it produces zero on-site emissions. It is the ultimate eco-friendly asphalt storage solution.

2. The “Isolation Sleeve” Technology: Preventing Asphalt Coking
A common concern contractors have with electric tanks is: “Will the electric elements burn the bitumen?”
If raw electric heating tubes touch liquid bitumen directly, the localized temperature spikes instantly, scorching the bitumen (coking) and ruining its binding properties.
The Feiteng Engineering Solution: Based on our DZL-45 and DZL-35L designs, our electric heaters NEVER touch the bitumen directly.
Instead, the heating elements are installed inside specialized Isolation Sleeves (隔离套管).
-
The electric tube heats the sleeve.
-
The sleeve gently and evenly transfers the heat to the surrounding bitumen.
-
Bonus Benefit: If a heating element ever needs replacement, you can simply pull it out of the sleeve from the outside of the tank. You do NOT need to empty the tank or halt production to change a heater!
3. Intelligent Power Management
You don’t always need 100% heating power.
Our DZL tanks are designed with modular heating groups. The tank is equipped with an Automatic Temperature Control System.
-
You set the target temperature (e.g., $150^\circ\text{C}$).
-
The PLC automatically turns on the necessary number of heating groups to reach the target quickly.
-
Once the temperature is reached, it switches off the main heaters, relying on the high-density Rock Wool insulation layer to retain heat, saving massive amounts of electricity.
4. Ultimate Mobility and Space-Saving
Without the need for a bulky external thermal oil boiler, expansion tanks, and complex external piping networks, the DZL Electric Tank is incredibly compact.
Our horizontal models (like the DZL-45) are built with a containerized frame structure. You simply unload it, connect the 380V/50Hz power cable to the control cabinet, and you are ready to heat. It is true “Plug & Play.”
Is an Electric Bitumen Tank Right for You?
Choose a Thermal Oil System if: You are running a massive, permanent 200TPH drum mix plant that requires heating multiple 1000-ton tanks simultaneously.
Choose the DZL Electric Heating Tank if: * You are operating in an environmentally sensitive area.
-
You are setting up a mobile or temporary asphalt plant.
-
You want to minimize installation time and eliminate boiler maintenance.
Stop letting boiler permits and space constraints slow down your paving projects.
