The global bitumen market is undergoing a logistics revolution. Due to rising steel prices and strict environmental disposal regulations, 1-Ton Jumbo Bags (Big Bags) are replacing traditional 200kg steel drums.
However, buying bagged bitumen creates a new problem at the job site: How do you melt a solid 1-ton block of asphalt quickly?
You cannot simply drop it into a heating tank—it will take days to melt. You need a specialized machine. Enter the Feiteng YDLR Series Bag Bitumen Melter.
1. The Challenge: Why Traditional Tanks Fail with Bags
If you drop a cold bitumen block into hot oil, it sinks. The heat only attacks the outer surface. The center remains cold. This is slow and inefficient.
Furthermore, manual cutting of bags is dangerous. Workers climbing on top of hot tanks with knives is a major safety liability.

2. The Solution: Feiteng’s “Grid Heating” Technology
Our YDLR machine uses a smarter approach based on thermodynamics.
-
The Upper Grid: We installed a dense network of Thermal Oil Coils right at the top feeding port.
-
Slicing by Heat: When the block lands on these hot coils ($230^\circ\text{C}$), it is immediately sliced into smaller chunks by the heat.
-
Surface Area: These smaller chunks fall into the lower chamber. Because they are small, their total surface area is huge, allowing them to melt rapidly.
Performance: A standard YDLR unit can melt 5 to 10 tons per hour, depending on the model.
3. Workflow: Automation & Safety
We designed the YDLR series to be operated by a single person.
-
Step 1: Integrated Hoist: The machine comes with its own electric crane. No need to rent a forklift or mobile crane.
-
Step 2: Automatic Cutting: As the bag is lowered, built-in circular blades slit the bottom. The bitumen falls out, and the clean bag stays on the hook.
-
Step 3: Zero Waste: Unlike drums, which trap 3-5% of bitumen inside, the bag is removed clean. You get 100% of the material you paid for.
4. The Economic Case: Drums vs. Bags
Why switch? Let’s look at the numbers for a 1,000-ton project.
-
Steel Drums: You pay for 5,000+ drums. After use, you have 5,000 dirty drums to crush and dispose of (environmental cost). You lose ~30 tons of bitumen stuck in the drums.
-
Jumbo Bags: You pay for 1,000 bags. They are lightweight and easy to recycle. You lose 0 tons of bitumen.
The savings on material waste alone often pay for the Feiteng YDLR Melter within the first few projects.
